We recently moved into a place built in 1966. The terrazzo flooring was in pretty poor shape. I consulted several people about what to do with it -- indeed, whether there was any hope for it. Fortunately I came across Al Schultz of We Do Floors. He tactfully talked me out of some options that others had recommended (waxing and, worse, recrystalizing), by referring me to convincing literature on the subject (down to the the details of chemistry).
Al was somewhat skeptical that much could be done to bring out the brightness and color of what we were left with. (The floor had been ground several times, and there were visible scratches in some places. Worse, there were some 140 divots where the previous owner had driven concrete nails to hold down carpet strips.) His approach was the complete opposite of a "fast sell." He was willing to lose the job by soberly tempering our hopes.
My wife and I decided to take the gamble -- and were gratified beyond all expectation. The place shines ... and unless you know where to look, you can't see the holes repaired.
Al was also able to work his schedule around an out-of-town trip (even working over the weekend) to complete the job before we brought furniture in.
Al is not only a highly skilled craftsman, but a highly personable fellow from whom you'll learn a great deal if you're interested.
If you need to restore some terrazzo, you'd definitely be well advised to call in We Do Floors for a consultation.
I discovered a potentially great terrazzo floor underneath the storm soaked carpet of my guest bedroom. The floor was marred with grime and glue. Am I ever glad that I called We Do Floors, LLC. Al Shulze was the consummate professional from start to finish. He took time to explain the process and to make sure I understood what type of results could be expected. Al worked hard to meet those expectations. I now have a wonderful looking floor. I recommend We Do Floors, LLC and plan on having Al back to restore another room
As an architect I am highly aware of the lost art of terrazzo and the difficulty in finding skilled artisans to restore and maintain floors. Sure, there are a number of people out there who "work on terrazzo", but finding a company that truly understands terrazzo and its properties is much more difficult; especially in the Central Florida region. Al Shulze with We Do Floors, LLC is honest and most of all - a professional. He educates you with respect to the process and what results to expect. As an architect, I appreciate his attention to detail. His work is top-notch and I highly recommend his company, We Do Floors, LLC.
Great Job!
My terrazzo floors are 48 years old and Al made them look brand new! He is a craftsman who not only understands the properties of terrazzo and the best way for restoration, he is a hard worker and man of his word. If you happen to uncover hidden terrazzo in your house, I suggest you have him restrore them to their better than new finish and never cover them again.
Excited with the results.
My terrazzo floors are 45 years old. They have had hard wear and a number of years under carpet. Al Shulze is an experienced professional. I checked with several other companies and Al was the most knowledgeable. He explained the possibilities and made sure about my expectations. I am really pleased with the results. His work ethics are exceptional. I highly recommend WE DO FLOOR,LLC and Al Schulze.
Thanks for a great job. Cathy Alessandri
